ALLUNA was created through a desire to bring creativity and freshness to both new and existing music.
Based in London, ALLUNA was founded in 2013 by a group of performers from the celebrated Park Lane Group Young Artists scheme. Each member of the ensemble is an experienced soloist, and is particularly passionate about bringing an originality and dramatic intensity to each performance.
The dynamic chamber ensemble typically performs unconducted and offers unusual programmes, presenting repertoire from different periods in interesting and revealing new contexts. The performance and exploration of Arnold Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire has always been a focal point for the ensemble, and ALLUNA continues to bring this seminal work to audiences as widely as possible. In addition to performing Schönberg's extraordinary music in its original uninterrupted concert form, ALLUNA continually seeks to open up new aspects of the piece to all audiences through open discussions, thought-provoking stagings and illuminating programming choices.
ALLUNA enjoys appearances in a wide variety of venues, from concert halls to cabaret stages, clubs, schools and theatres. The ensemble is known for its enthusiasm for collaboration with composers and performers of all ages, including workshops and seminars in schools, universities and conservatoires.
